KHON KAEN: A vehicle carrying six tons of liquefied petroleum gas leaked during its replace of another vehicle early on Sunday night, leading to a large petroleum gas explosion on a nationwide bridge in the northern territory.
At 12.30 am, an incident occurred on Mitraparp Highway opposite a gas station in Ban Nano of the tambon Nong Nam Sai city. Firefighters poured water onto the enormous, leaking petrol cylinder on the trailer to stop an blast until the cylinder was completely empty, blocking traffic within a two-kilometer radius of the site.
Pichai Wanta, the district’s commander, claimed the LPG vehicle was being used to fill another vehicle that was being used for highway repair. LPG allegedly escaped from its barrel during the replace, and the unnamed gasoline truck driver fled and called police for help.
Police reopened customers on the highway after the fuel had completely drained. No one was injured in the event.
