PM tells Thais in Japan to heed tsunami advisory

Thai citizens should closely check news information and follow a wave advisory issued by Chinese authorities after yesterday’s devastating earthquake off the coast of southern Japan has been issued.

After learning about the 7. 1 scale disaster, Mr. Srettha expressed concern for the safety of Thais, according to official Chai Wacharonke. At a depth of about 30 kilometers, the earthquake was located off the northeast coast of Kyushu, Japan’s southern key area.

According to Japan’s Meteorological Agency, the disaster struck at about 4.43pm. A tsunami warning was in position for Miyazaki, Kochi, Ehime, Oita and Kagoshima regions on the archipelago of Kyushu and Shikoku.

Thai citizens are advised to pursue the Chinese government’s instructions until the warning is lifted, according to Mr. Chai.
