SINGAPORE: Mr Peter Ho Hak Ean, chairman of the Urban Redevelopment Authority ( URA ), heads this year’s list of National Day Award recipients.
He was awarded the Order of Nila Utama ( with High Distinction ), the highest of three grades for the Order.  , Instituted in 1975, the Order is conferred by the President on the tips of the Prime Minister.
Prior to Mr. Ho, past secretary Mr. Lim Chee Onn was given the distinction in 2019.
One of 6, 774 persons this time received National Day Honors included Mr. Ho. The consumers are made up of 6, 062 residents and 712 members of the military.  ,
On Friday ( August 9 ), the Prime Minister’s Office website announced the full list of awards.  ,
50 YEARS OF SERVICE
In his more than 50 years of distinguished services, Mr. Ho, according to a reference obtained through the Prime Minister’s Office, has made a significant contribution to Singapore.
Mr Ho served as a common maid for more than three decades and ,” created lasting impact in different senior leadership meetings”, it read.
He served as the head of the civil service and permanent secretary of departments like the Defense and Foreign Affairs Departments.
After retiring in 2010, Mr. Ho kept making contributions to Singapore.
He assisted in developing skills in significant areas of research, development, and business websites in support of Singapore’s strategic and economic interests as a board member.
And as president of URA, Mr Ho provided “invaluable instruction in long-term land usage and facilities preparing for Singapore’s sustained growth”.
Additionally, Mr. Ho served as the Social Science Research Council’s foundation chair, leading initiatives to advance talent and advance research in the social sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
As senior consultant to the Centre for Strategic Futures, Mr Ho helped develop whole-of-government strategic planning in a more sophisticated environment, learn the reference.
Mr. Ho has served as the university’s president since 2021, where he led the organization’s effort to achieve creative excellence while also serving its social function as a people’s museum.
Mr. Ho expressed his gratitude for the gift of serving Singapore for the past 50 years.
” In this long journey, I have had the pleasure of working with some colleagues who have shared the vision of building a society that is competitive, safe and culturally vibrant”, he added.
Mr. Ho received the Long Service Medal in 1998, the Meritorious Service Medal in 2007, and the Distinguished Service Order in 2016.  ,
Differentiated SERVICE ORDER
Six people received the Recognized Service Order at this year’s National Day Awards.  ,
The beneficiaries included Mr. Teo Ming Kan, Mr. Teo Ming Kan, Mr. Phillip Tan Eng Seong, Mr. Phillip Tan, and Mr. Hsieh Fu Hua, Chairman of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd.  , Chairman of the National University Health and the NUS board of trustees.
This distinction will also be given to Ms. Jennue Chua Kheng Yeng, the commission chair of the Woodlands Health Campus Development Board, and Mr. Peter Ong Boon Kwee, a former executive chairman of Enterprise Singapore, as well as Mr. Syed Hassan Syed Mohammad Salim Al Attas, a part of the National Council for Minority Rights.  ,
