SINGAPORE: Singapore kayaker Stephenie Chen is through to the semi-finals of the women’s K1 500m after two races on Wednesday ( Aug 7 ).
She placed second in her warmth earlier in the day with a period of 1m 58.52s. The fastest two in each temperature were instantly eligible for the quarterfinals, while the fastest two in each heat were the second to seventh fastest.
In the next round, 32-year-old Chen clocked a schedule of 1m 53.88s, finishing second out of eight kayakers in her quarter-final.  ,
The best five of each of the four quarter-finals moved on to the semi-finals on Saturday.  ,
Chen punched her seat for the Paris Olympics after finishing second in the , children’s K1 500m , last at the ACC , Canoe Sprint &, Paracanoe Asian Championships.
She is a five-time SEA Games fighter and won gold at the 2022 Eastern Games.
