Social development ministry seeks to amend law on domestic violence

Major three topics that are most frequently reported each month are domestic violence, family violence, and financial struggle.

According to the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Thai culture has become more fragile and prone to domestic misuse.

The modification of the Victims of Domestic Violence Protection Act, Get 2550, according to Minister Varawut Silpa-archa, was one of the major topics on the agency’s regular meeting on Monday.

He explained that the Human Security Emergency Management Centre ( HuSEC ) had received data to create the draft.

Financial conflict, home conflicts, and domestic violence are among the leading three issues that are most frequently reported each month, according to HuSEC.

Mr Varawut said that the bad financial situation, combined with other elements, contributed to more studies of violence, with patients ranging from child to the old.

With the issue in thinking, the government is now expediting the act to support regional stability, he said.

According to him, the updated law is intended to support powerful families and protect everyone in the family regardless of gender.

He claimed that a strong community may prevent people from having numerous social issues.

It can help alleviate the issue of violent minors, poor folks, and beggars, he said.

The draft has now been reviewed by the act committee after the main hearing was over. According to Mr. Varawut, it will be made a proposal to the government in September and then published in the Royal Gazette.
