The Election Commission (EC) is set to investigate whether SenatorKeskamol Pleansamaihas a genuine PhD from California University.
If she does not, it could result in her facing up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of up to 200, 000 ringgit.
The EC received two issues on Wednesday asking that an exploration be looked into Dr. Keskamol’s educational background.
This was used to determine whether her say that she was a doctor with a PhD from California University was a hoax and a slander of Segment 77 of the 2018 Senate election laws.
Before Dr. Keskamol was elected a senator last year, the concerns were accepted on July 1 and July 5.
The EC chose to accept her votes place despite the fact that both of her complaints had been approved, a source said, because the law requires senator candidates to have at least a bachelor’s degree.
Nevertheless, with the issues having been accepted by the vote agency, it will check Dr Keskamol.
Under Section 77 of the Senate election laws, people forcing, influencing or dishonestly persuading others to voting or never vote for a prospect faces a prison term of one to 10 years and/or a 20, 000 to 200, 000 baht good. Additionally, for the next 20 times, they will have to forfeit their right to vote.
Meanwhile, the National Institute of Development Administration ( Nida ) said Dr Keskamol did not graduate from Nida with a doctoral degree, nor is she pursuing one at the institute.
In a social media post, she claimed to be a Nida scholar and that she was taking a group to present her doctoral dissertation.
Additionally, according to several news outlets, Dr. Keskamol received a PhD in asset management and growth from Maejo University in Chiang Mai.
Koblap Areesrisom, who is in charge of that graduate program at Maejo University’s University of Agricultural Production, confirmed Dr Keskamol registered for the three-year program and is now a second-year pupil.
He claimed that he had recently contacted Dr. Keskamol to let him know that she is still studying the amount.
Dr. Keskamol has since changed the name of her social media account to” Degree name” after her.
Dr. Keskamol, 45, was the congressional candidate who had the most popular support on June 26 during the last federal round of Senate voting.
