Wahyu Wicaksono, a girl from Jakarta who recently graduated from high school and is awaiting an entrance exam to join the police in September, discovered a way to earn money from his passion of running.
He fought off competition from other users of the common practice tracking app, earning running records for him.
” I am active on ( the social media platform ) X and it ( the Strava jockey trend ) is booming there”, said Wahyu, 17, who started advertising his Strava jockey services almost two weeks ago.  ,
Since running is my passion, I thought I really capitalize on the condition and start a business.
In the first six weeks of his budding business, he attracted eight users.
Wahyu charges 10, 000 rupiah ( US$ 0.62 ) per km to run at” Pace 4″ ( 1km in four minutes ). For every km run at” Pace 8″ ( 1km in eight minutes ), he charges 5, 000 rupiah.  ,
Consumers pay up before he even begins to run, and he does so using either his own Strava accounts or the login information they have provided.  ,
His most rewarding career so far, he said, has earned him 100, 000 dirhams.  ,
In Indonesia, the practice of selling high-performance Strava data has become popular. Strava competitors are selling information of their running, biking, and other training achievements in exchange for money or products like energy bars.
” If it’s not on Strava, it did n’t occur” is, after all, a motto associated with the software, which allows users to adopt one another, and share and showcase their training efforts.
Strava users may also participate in online “races” to compete against other users who travel the same distance in a simulated competition for leaderboard positions.
Although the software boasts more than 100 million paid and free members in over 190 countries, according to Strava’s site, there are no significant reports of the pattern getting on somewhere.
OTHER LISTENERS” ALL OLDER THAN ME”
In Indonesia, the trend appears to have started from a tongue-in-cheek article on X, originally known as Twitter, that went viral on Jul 3.
” By the way, I’m opening a Strava rider support!”! the X customer @hahahiheho posted, along with an picture meant to resemble a Strava screengrab. ” But the person who does work is my brother/family member who is a great skater. The cost is centered on the pace, miles, etc. DM ( direct message ) me”.
