When handling the controversy surrounding the provincial administrative organization ( PAO ) chairman, Pathum Thani provincial authorities will follow the Interior Ministry’s instructions and the Council of State’s legal advice.

Governor Passakorn Bunyaluck stated on Saturday that no decisions have been made at this point because Charn Phuangphet&nbsp won the PAO chairman contest last Sunday and the Election Commission (EC ) has yet to support the election results.

” As the officer of regional operational body, I will proceed in accordance with the Interior Ministry’s guidelines, rules, and the views of the CoS”, Mr Passakorn said.

Mr. Charn, a member from the Pheu Thai Party, won the local election on June 30 despite widespread skepticism as a result of a recent misconduct trial involving his previous leadership as PAO chairman ten years ago.

When it accepted the case brought by the National Anti-Corruption Commission ( NACC ) in 2012, the Region 1 Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases suspended Mr. Charn, who was then the PAO chief.

The Pheu Thai Party claimed that Mr. Charn should be suspended from his place as Pathum Thani PAO chair, but the CoS claimed that Mr. Charn must still go on trial.

A senior official from the Interior Ministry confirmed on Friday that the government was prepared to impose a expulsion order as soon as Mr. Charn took office.

This action is in line with a letter released in April of this year outlining the steps that need to be taken when local political workplace holders are publicly accused of wrongdoing by the NACC.

The accused must resign from their positions and notify the government or city chief as soon as possible in accordance with the memo.

A failure to comply may lead to an investigation and possible removal from office.

However, Prinya Thaewanarumitkul, a law professor at Thammasat University, said on Saturday that Mr Charn was ready to challenge the blog because the courtroom has not yet issued a ruling in his case.

He noted that since December 2022, the CoS has provided legal counsel in regards to circumstances like Mr. Charn’s since local administrative systems have been elected throughout the nation.

” In light of recent circumstances, did the democratic organization tell him that he might not be ready to carry out his duties despite being elected?” And did Pheu Thai know about the CoS ‘ guidance”? he asked.
