Employer refuses to pay migrant worker’s medical bills
After the company refused to pay for the treatment costs of a severely injured worker, the medical director claims that the hospital was asked to cover the costs.

A Thai firm, according to the Department of Employment, has been accused of refusing to pay medical expenses for a migrant contractor who had entered the country illegally.

The investigation began after Mongkutwattana Hospital’s producer, Maj Gen Dr. Rienthong Nanna, revealed the incident in a blog on his Instagram website, urging the company to accept responsibility.

A migrant worker was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a sharp image pierced his remaining bone and abdomen near the center, according to his blog.

However, the firm, according to Dr. Rienthong, refused to pay the medical expenses and left the hospital with the burden, claiming that he was not liable because the injured party was an illegal immigrant.

According to Somchai Morakotsriwan, the director-general of the Department of Employment, this behavior is in violation of the area of the Immigration Act, which prohibits employing immigrant workers without job grants.

The Thung Song Hong police may gather evidence to bring charges against the alleged company.
