Thai court accepts complaint seeking PM’s removal over Cabinet appointment

A government that has had three ministers resign in recent days may suffer as a result of the decision, which also aims to boost a weak market and ensure it has the funds to fulfill its delayed vote promise of money handouts to 50 million people.

The authorities did not respond to a request for comment right away.

Pichit has long been a close ally of the businessman Shinawatra community, whose parties have won all but one vote in the last two years.

As a prosecutor he fought, and lost, great court cases against previous premiers Yingluck Shinawatra and nephew Thaksin Shinawatra, the leader of Srettha’s decision Pheu Thai group.

After allegedly bribe court officials with 2 million baht ( US$ 55, 218 ) hidden in a paper grocery bag, Pichit was jailed for six months in 2008 for contempt of court. Following the incident, his laws license was suspended for five decades.

The 40 legislators claimed that Srettha harmed the law by appointing Pichit, who lacked the moral standards required to hold a supervisory position.

The government has claimed that Pichit’s credentials were thoroughly checked and that it was comfortable in its ability to defend his appointment in court.

Its detractors claim Pichit was hired because of his close ties to Thaksin, who has been a renowned number in Thailand for more than 20 years.

Despite being publicly retired and having spent 15 times in self-imposed exile before resuming his presidency next year, Thaksin also has a major influence in politics.

Pichit was chosen because of his eligibility for the ministerial position in the president’s business, according to the government. &nbsp,
