The Citi Para Swimming World Series is a great opportunity for me to develop what I need to work on and see everything that needs to be fixed before we can enter that race in Paris, according to Toh. And I’m excited to participate on household surface”.
Toh, who won three gold and one magic at the 2022 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou in October, has had a hectic schedule over the past few months. He won the medal at the event in China’s Hangzhou.
It was his second prize pull of the year. He set fresh event information and a fresh national record while winning three medals and two silvers at the 2023 ASEAN Para Games, which were held in Cambodia in June.
Toh, who will graduate from the National University of Singapore after this year, has diagonal asthenia, a rare neurological condition brought on by spinal cord infection.
” This is one of the great opportunities to take people down and actually show… first why it’s important to include these events, the stories that can be told, and the inspiration that can be gleaned from witnessing people with disabilities compete on the world stage at the world level,” he said.
Toh will be among 13 Singapore sports going brain- to- head this trip. 126 paraswimmers from 21 nations are competing in full, including Japan’s Takayuki Suzuki, a two-time Paralympic gold medalist.
Dr Teo- Koh Sock Miang, chairman of the Singapore Illness Sports Council, also called for Singaporeans to help the world’s par swimmers.
” Come out and really see that anyone with a disability ( can ) enjoy sports. And because they also train very hard to show their skills, they can be so good at the game they choose,” she continued.
