SINGAPORE: Jian Bo Tiong Bahru Shui Kueh, one of 9 kueh manufacturers exactly who had their operations hanging from the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) due to the improper use of food additives, has disputed the agency’s findings.
Jian Bo said within a Facebook post upon Wednesday (Jul 27) that the three suggested as a factor products identified with the agency – chwee kueh, nine coating kueh and tapioca kueh – tend not to contain benzoic acid or sorbic acidity.
Under the Singapore Food Regulations, the usage of benzoic acid plus sorbic acid is just not allowed in kueh products, with the exception of kueh fillings within allowable limits.
The particular suspensions began upon Tuesday and would be to last until additional notice, SFA mentioned on Wednesday.
Shortly after the suspension system was announced, Jian Bo took to Fb to state that it had submitted lab test results to the agency proving it did not use the stated additives in its products.
“We have submitted the laboratory test reports to SFA and are currently seeking clarifications from on this action against us. It has negatively impacted our business, affected our status and brand name and many importantly, shaken our customers’ confidence in our products. ”
Jian Bo, which is registered because Tiong Bahru Tian Bo Shui Kueh Pte Ltd, also thanked its customers for their support.
In a following Facebook post upon Thursday, Jian Bo announced that its suspension system had been revoked. The announcement was with a screenshot of a letter purportedly sent to the business by SFA.
“We are happy to share that the Singapore Food Agency gave us an official reply this morning after reviewing the laboratory test reports, ” the company said.
Jian Bo added that the agency “revoked their earlier direction to impose movement controls, recall and manage food beneath the Sale of Food Act”.
“Jian Bo is a history brand with near to 65 years of history and strong background over the years. We satisfaction ourselves in maintaining stringent food safety specifications. ”
