The” One Village, One Thai Food Chief” program will kick off in June and is expected to produce about 75, 000 professional chef by 2027.
Following a debate on April 12 between Food Industry Steering Committee Chairman Chumpol Jangprai, government executives, and representatives from cooking institutes, the minister’s secretary of higher learning, Supamas Isarabhakdi, revealed details of the agency’s plan for the project.
Ms. Supamas stated that the ministry will deliver instructors from culinary institutes to help restaurant owners advance their knowledge of Thai cuisine.
The food industry, a popular source of soft energy and a potential source of new revenue for the nation, is the focus of the initiative, which is in line with the president’s sweet power policy, she said.
In the first stage of the project, about 10,000 people will take part in online and on-site education. Between this year and 2027, the project hopes to develop 75, 086 Thai food chefs, half of whom will use their knowledge to support the economy and make a living, the minister said.
She continued, adding that local knowledge and identities are crucial to the development of academic support and development research. She said that the know-how can also contribute to raising the monetary value of regional heritage.
She cited the agency’s efforts to encourage Unesco’s designation of Phuket and Phetchaburi as towns of culinary as proof.
