The Department of Medical Sciences warned against overindulgence of kratom-infused drink, citing the possibility that they may have a higher mitragynine content than the FDA’s advice.
In March, the department began collecting samples of kratom-mixed beverages from different regions to conduct safety testing. All 52 samples were found to have a high level of mitragynine, from 22 to 352.6 milligrammes per liter, or 109.5 milligrammes per gallon on regular.
The amount is above the Food and Drug Administration’s recommended quantity for normal use, which is 0.2 milligrammes per time.
Dr Yongyot Thammawut, the district’s captain, said mitragynine is an compound- based opioid typically found in teak plants. According to legend, mitragynine helps to boost strength, relieve pain, and promote the nervous system. According to activists, it also has an anti-inflammatory and stress-relieving effect.
According to experts, consuming rattan alone can make people intoxicated. The material may also develop an addiction if consumed in significant quantities for a long time. It is possible to overdose on teak, which may pose a danger to women’s health.
Even though there are several, if any, reputable studies regarding the poisoning of teak, Dr. Yongyot warned people to be cautious when mixing different elements with it. In 2021, rattan was revoked from the listing of cocaine, allowing people to grow the flower for medical purposes. Nevertheless, it cannot be mixed with other medications that affect the way the brain functions.
