Married man who beat girlfriend to death jailed 20 years, more than what prosecution sought

A married man who brutally beaten his lover to death in a rage lasting for nearly two hours was given a 20-year jail term on Monday ( April 22 ), more than the prosecution had requested.

Prior to the death of Mallika Begum Rahamansa Abdul Rahman, even 40, M. Krishnan had admitted guilt on one matter of criminal homicide not equivalent to death. The offense is punishable by a maximum sentence of life and punishment, or a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, plus a good or caning.

Krishnan, a Singaporean, had been upset over Ms Mallika’s connections with other people. On January 17, 2019, his fatal attack left Ms. Mallika dead from a head injury.

BACKGROUND

Krishna and Ms. Mallika met in 2015, and they started dating while he was also married.

Krishnan hit Ms. Mallika at least once throughout their marriage. After Ms. Mallika admitted to having sexual relations with a number of men, the mistreatment grew.

Ms. Mallika spoke of her other relationships with Krishnan on January 15, 2019, and she received a punch in the bones and a kick in the knee from her boyfriend. She fell and hit her head as a result of the murder. When she did not getting up, he pushed her, causing her mind to reach the case.

Mr Mallika sought medical care at a clinic on Jan 16 and was found to have suffered several scratches on her face, palms, and arms, among other accidents. A computed imaging scan  found no evidence of cerebral haemorrhage, subdural haematoma or bone vault bone.

After drinking alcohol throughout the entire night, Krishnan once more became angry and frustrated with Ms. Mallika’s connections with other people and assaulted her. He afterwards led her to the bed when he realized she had stopped breathing. The Singapore Civil Defence Force was next called.

In the early days of January 17 she was declared useless.
