In response to severe rumors about a government change, a source said yesterday that the Pheu Thai Party plans to hit the Prachachat Party into giving the party the House Speaker position.
According to the source, the ruling party wants to overhaul its legislative work and wants to appoint one of the group’s heavyweights, perhaps one of the ministers who will be removed from the cabinet during the transition.
Thin Muhamad Noor Matha, the party’s present residence speaker, is a top figure, and it’s unclear what he would do if he were to step down. As a result, the group will have to work hard to reclaim the place from the Prachachat Party.
Former Prachachat Party leader Mr. Wan Noor was nominated for House Speaker last year when eight potential coalition parties led by the MFP attempted to form a coalition government. Pheu Thai and the Move Forward Party ( MFP ) were at odds with one another.
While Mr. Wan Noor said yesterday that despite not having any ties to the article, he does not want to interfere with political affairs because the House loudspeaker post is one of the three pillars of the political program.
” If there is treatment for my departure, parliament is n’t what it’s supposed to be. The primary minister is authorised to make a case change, but the House Speaker’s name is specified by the contract.
No one can alter it unless he resigns or fails to fulfill his duties, he said.
After being elected House Speaker, Mr. Wan Noor resigned as the head of the Prachachat Party. The House Speaker is required to retain political independence by not holding a place in any political party in accordance with the constitution.
Tawee Sodsong, the justice minister and MP for the Prachachat list, stated yesterday that the House Speaker position and the government change are two separate issues. He was questioned about the rumor that a government minister would be fired from the government.
Srettha Thavisin, the prime minister, yesterday refrained from commenting on rumors that Pheu Thai may get the resignation of the House Speaker position. He claimed that the Pheu Thai Party attaches great importance to the job of parliament, but he is not able to respond to the question, which should be directed at the head of the party.
He said,” I’d rather not discuss about this because it affects different people and is not my business.”
In addition, Mr. Srettha remained cautious about the rumored overhaul.
Talk about the case change and a change in the House Speaker seems to have come after Mr. Srettha’s suggestion that the correct person should work either in executive or legislative positions.
It is commonly believed that Cholnan Srikaew, the ruling party’s health minister, and Defence Minister Sutin Klungsang will be removed from the cupboard and given the task of overseeing its political affairs and strategies.
Dr. Cholnan was expected to be the House Speaker after the general election next year, but Mr. Wan Noor was chosen when Pheu Thai and the MFP reached a settlement.
