Singapore recalls Samy instant bak kut teh products imported from unapproved source in Malaysia

The Singapore Food Agency ( SFA ) has mandated a recall of instant bak kut teh products that were imported from a prohibited source in Malaysia. &nbsp,

More than 5 % of pork is present in the two products, according to a media release released on Friday ( April 12 ), including the dry and soup versions of Samy Instant Cooking Bak Kut Teh with Rice. &nbsp,

Meat and meat products that contain more than 5 % of meats can only be brought in from reputable sources.

As a precautionary measure, SFA directed the importers, Biscotti Trading and Boughtnex, to recall the implicated products -&nbsp, Samy Instant Cooking Bak Kut Teh with Rice ( Dry ) 350g and&nbsp, Samy Instant Cooking Bak Kut Teh with Rice ( Soup ) 450g.

The product recall covers all volumes and is continuous. The dishes have a” self heating steamed rice” feature and are marketed as” Klang famous authentic bak kut teh” according to photos of the packaging. &nbsp,

SFA issued a warning that consumers could be put at risk from improperly importing foods products from illegal and unknown sources.

The implicated products are advised against consuming them by those who have purchased them. &nbsp,

SFA advised those who had consumed the materials to seek medical attention, adding that customers could call their place of purchase for inquiries. &nbsp,

SFA emphasized that simply approved countries with food safety standards and requirements may import meat and meat products from accredited options.

The creation does not need to be accredited by SFA for food items with less than 5 % foods content. However, it will need to be governed by the qualified body in the exporting nation or region. &nbsp,

Regardless of the fraction information, approval is required for all meat products, SFA added.
