After US President Joe Biden held a trilateral meeting in Washington on Friday ( Apr 12 ), Beijing criticized the United States, Japan, and the Philippines and defended its actions in the South China Sea as “lawful.”
At the White House conference on Thursday, Biden pledged to protect the Philippines from any harm in the South China Sea. The summit took place in response to numerous clashes between Chinese and Asian vessels in the contested lake, which raised concerns about a potential new issue.
The leaders of the three countries ‘ leaders jointly criticized Beijing’s actions in the South China Sea as “dangerous and aggressive” and” serious concern” over its actions there.
Beijing ignores competing claims from many Southeast Asian countries, including the Philippines, which claim nearly the entire South China Sea.
China attacked at the joint conference in Washington on Friday, with Mao Ning, a spokesperson for the foreign ministry, saying that Beijing “firmly opposes the relevant states manipulating union elections and firmly opposes any behavior that encourages or lay plans for criticism, and hurts other countries ‘ corporate security and interests.”
We vehemently oppose joining closed groups that enslave other people in the area, Mao declared at a typical press conference.
Japan and the Philippines is, of course, establish normal relations with other nations, but they should n’t force political opposition to the area, much less signify trilateral cooperation at the risk of detracting from one nation’s interests.
” If these are not wanton slanders and strikes on China, what are they? ” she said.
