Ministry confident in plastic recycling goals

Thailand is on track to discard all foam waste by 2027, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

Thalerngsak Phetsuwan, the agency’s assistant continuous minister, yesterday said quite efforts are part of the administration’s efforts to reduce cheap consumption under the ministry’s plastic waste management roadmap for 2018- 2030.

The strategy was developed in response to concerns about spend management regarding the rise in single-use plastics, according to Mr. Thalerngsak at a conference to mark Earth Day, which falls on April 22.

The private sector has been asked to help the government produce recycled plastic supplies after having discussed the problem with them. Due to their recycling restrictions, it is anticipated that single-use, skinny plastic bags will no longer be available on the market.

In accordance with the president’s bio-circular green economy scheme, the Department of Pollution Control is currently working on a law to encourage plastic recycling.

” We are currently experiencing a lack of landfills because of the growing amount of waste,” he said.” All waste should be recycled.”

Since the region is now equipped with green recycling systems, Mr. Thalerngsak expressed confidence in the plan’s smooth execution. Additionally, the nation has now outlawed the importation of plastic waste, which may help reduce the volume of foam scrap in the country.

The Department of Climate Change and Environment’s assistant director-general, Pavich Kesavawong, stated that the agency entirely supported the bio-circumstance green market to reduce plastic waste.

He said the ministry is joining hands with 31 licensed coffee shops and restaurants, operating a full of 9, 530 stores worldwide, to stop using cheap products, including straws and cups.

” We will publicly announce this cooperation on Earth Day– to create a new pathway of ecological- friendly consumption, moving back to green development”, he said.

The United Nations Environment Programme ( UNEP ) made Earth Day to raise awareness of environmental issues. This year’s theme,” Planet vs Plastics”, aims to raise global awareness of the plastic waste crisis.
