On Wednesday ( Apr. 10 ), US President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida praised increased joint military cooperation and a new missile defense system, strengthening their alliance with an emphasis on aggressive actions by China and Russia.
After about two days of discussions centered on the restive Indo-Pacific region, Ukraine, and the Gaza conflict, Biden declared at a mutual White House news conference with Kishida that” this is the most significant improvement in our ally since it was first established.”
Kishida claimed that the two leaders also spoke about Taiwan’s strained relations with China and pledged to uphold an international order grounded on the rule of law.
” Unilateral attempts to change position status by force or persuasion is totally unacceptable, wherever it may be”, Kishida said. The US and Japan may continue to respond to such actions, including issues from China, he said.
” Regarding Russia’s brutality of Ukraine… Ukraine now may be East Asia tomorrow”, Kishida said.
