Air fare cuts for Songkran travel

The transport minister announced on Wednesday that the cost of air travel on three well-known domestic routes will decrease by 3.8 % to 14 % starting this Friday for the Songkran festival.

Suriya Juangroongruangkit said&nbsp, charges on six carriers flying between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Krabi and Phuket were capped at 3, 000 ringgit per trip, one- manner.

Air charges on Friday, when the Songkran event migration is expected to begin, were 2, 501- 3, 000 ringgit for the Phuket way, 2, 001- 2, 500 ringgit for Chiang Mai and 2, 501- 3, 000 ringgit for Krabi.

Compared with tickets during the New Year event, the regular price dropped 9.8 % on the Bangkok- Thailand way, 14 % for Bangkok- Chiang Mai and 3.8 % for Bangkok- Krabi, Mr Suriya said.

The six carriers offering private flights are Thai Airways International, Thai AirAsia, Bangkok Airways, Thai Lion Air, Nok Air and Thai Vietjet.
