In the absence of further inquiries from authorities, the attorney-general has delayed the indictment of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra until May 29.
A choice had been expected on Wednesday.
Attorney-general Amnat Chetcharoenrak delayed it on Wednesday night, according to assistant spokesman Prayut Phetcharakhun, because authorities interrogators had not sent a full report to the Office of the Attorney-General.
The lawyer- general ordered further questioning, saying he needed more information, and Thaksin even requested it in a petition for good treatment.
Mr. Prayut claimed that police interrogators provided some of the more details to the OAG on Tuesday, but that this information was inadequate for the attorney-general to make a decision.
On Wednesday, Thaksin even emailed his agent to the OAG.
After Thaksin was released on a temporary discharge on February 18, the Technology Crime Suppression Division took control of the case and granted his parole.
In a statement made on May 21, 2015, Thaksin was accused of defamed the king in a meeting in Seoul, South Korea.
On Sept 19, 2016, next attorney- public Pongniwat Yuthapanboripan decided to prosecute Thaksin. Thaksin was a runaway at the time, and the former attorney-general instructed authorities to request an arrest permit from the Criminal Court. The judge issued the permit.
Public prosecutors and authorities informed Thaksin of the charges relating to computer crime and the least-majority demand on January 17 of this year. Thaksin disputed the allegations and submitted a written request for good treatment.
In May 2015, Thaksin gave an interview to , Chosun Ilbo , in Seoul during which he claimed privy council supported the May 22, 2014, revolt that ousted the government of his younger girl Yingluck Shinawatra.
On Thai cultural advertising, a picture of the meeting was widely shared.
According to authorities, the comments made during the meeting may have violated the laptop crime and the stability majoreste laws. Part 112 of the Criminal Code, known as the der guess laws, provides for abuse of 3- 15 years in prison for each crime.
