Thailand is able to take up to 100, 000 people who have been displaced by the discord in Myanmar, according to Foreign Affairs Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-nukara on Tuesday.
Mr. Parnpree urged warring parties to join in peace negotiations ahead of a Thai government meeting to discuss the escalating conflict in its neighboring nation.
An insurrection is roiling Myanmar on numerous fronts, with allied anti-junta organizations supported by a pro-democracy parallel government taking control of some military installations and towns, including some strategically important towns along the Thai-Thai border over the weekend.
The Myanmar junta has faced the most difficulties since staging a coup against an elected state in 2021 due to the rebellion.
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin stated on X on Tuesday that” the situation in Myanmar is critical to Thailand,” adding that his government was prepared to encourage participation from all events to bring about peace and stability.
According to Mr. Srettha, the Myanmar government was “losing power,” and it was a good time to start discussions.
Next week, anti- coup forces attempted coordinated aircraft attacks on defense facilities in Myanmar’s money, a possible blow to the well- equipped military’s credibility.
Since Mr. Srettha took office in August, Thailand, which shares a 2, 000- kilometer area boundary with Myanmar, has engaged in numerous engagements with Myanmar, including providing aid under a charitable initiative aimed at facilitating dialogue between the two conflicting camps.
Despite the regime’s issue, Thai lawmakers held a workshop on the political position in Myanmar last month that included appearances of military opponents.
