Justice will be done to resolve the conflict between two high-ranking police officers over alleged bribes tied to an illegal online gambling network,Prime Minister Srettha Thavisinsaid on Wednesday.
Sittra Biabungkerd, the foundation’s secretary-general, held a media conference on Tuesday where he claimed he was link the network’s federal police captain Pol Gen Torsak Sukvimol and his assistants.
In order to delay the outcome of a probe into the subject, Mr. Srettha assigned Pol Gen Torsak and Deputy Police Chief Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn to inert positions at the PM’s Office.
The operating federal police chief has been named the lieutenant police chief, Pol Gen Kitrat Panphet.
According to Mr. Srettha,” I did not reply on anything about this issue any more because I believe in our constitutional structure, which is open and verifiable,” he told the media at Government House.
” I think every action is going the right way.” The two prominent police officers have been moved to inert positions at the PM’s Office to improve accountability for the justice system.
On Wednesday, Mr. Sittra leaked more details about the situation. He claimed that the federal police chief gave the church a lump sum from a mule account connected to the gambling network and posted a photo of Pol Gen Torsak and a priest at a temple in Chachoengsao on December 17, 2022.
Mr Sittra claimed the animal accounts, under the name Nattapol, transferred about 200, 000 ringgit to the church before Pol Gen Torsak visited it two days later. He claimed that the spouse and relatives of the federal police chief were also using this account.
The attorney urged the prime minister to address Pol Gen Torsak similarly to Pol Gen Surachate, who has come under intense scrutiny as a result of his allegations of accepting bribes from the BNK Master online betting case.
Mr. Sittra said he would rather file a petition with the opposition parties if the premier may not agree to anything.
Pol Gen Surachate threatened to sue Mr. Sittra for libel because he tried to discredit him.
Pol Lt Gen Worawat Watnakornbancha, director of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, on Wednesday , ordered the transport of Pol Sen Sgt Maj Apichat Suwanphet and Pol Lt Col Surakul Thansiridamrong to police Headquarters.
Both are being defrauded of handling animal records by Mr. Sittra regarding Pol Gen Surachate.
