SONGKHLA: A lady has been detained in the southern province of Rattaphum for having mule accounts to promote fraud that damaged more than 50 million baht.
Pol Maj Gen Supakorn Chanthabutr, captain of the Special Service Division, led authorities to arrest Ms Tawanna Tarawasant, 55, at a property in tambon Khuan Ru on Friday.
The girl was wanted in connection with false information being entered into a computer system by the Surat Thani Provincial Court and the Phuket Provincial Court.
Ms. Tawanna reportedly had opened mule bank accounts for con artists who reportedly tricked people into purchasing fake goods online.
The think denied having part in any kind of scam. She claimed to have used to open a bank account for a nearby friend who, a few years ago, owned a company selling building materials in Surat Thani. She claimed she was unaware that her companion had become involved in scams. At the time, she was arrested for fraud in 2018 and released from jail in 2022.  ,
While serving her prison phrase, she met other people who reportedly had been deceived by her buddy into opening donkey balances.
Ms. Tawanna claims that she only learned about the extra arrest warrants after being stopped by police on Thursday at her home. The original convict claimed she always fled because she had never engaged in deception and made a living selling art online.
According to a criminal history, Ms. Tawanna was the subject of five arrest warrants for common scams. Two permits were issued from Muang police stop in Udon Thani, two more from Surat Thani, and one more from Muang place in Phuket.
According to the police, the beginning of animal accounts by scammers caused victims about 50 million baht in damage.
She was afterwards turned over to Surat Thani authorities for legal actions. The suspect was being sought out to find those responsible for those animal accounts ‘ opening.
