A Russian tourists in Koh Phangan kicked a female shop owner, receiving a 500 baht fine and a 15-day suspended jail term.
Surat Thani’s immigration regulators are considering whether her card may be suspended as a result of the criminal offence.
Alena Kupriyanova, 41, admitted to kicking the store owner, who is eight months pregnant, on Monday in disappointment after the latter asked her to take off her shoes before entering the purchase.
The owner of the store made the decision to file a lawsuit to stop this from occurring repeatedly. Kupriyanova claimed that her menstrual period that day had affected her feeling. Her Thai immigration was supposed to be true through May 22.
The event was the most recent in a long line of reports of visitors acting rudely. Anutin Charnvirakul, the secretary of inside, downplayed public concerns about a rumored rise in these situations, stating that foreigners who violate Thailand’s regulations will be prosecuted.
He cited a situation this month where two brothers from New Zealand were charged with a police offence and later lost their visas after being assaulted in Phuket.
Visa withdrawal, he said, is decided on a circumstance- by- event schedule and not that every stranger who breaks the law will end up being deported.
From last October to this month, according to figures released by the Royal Thai Police, 614 immigrants faced legal activity for a murder in Thailand, and 98 of those who committed it were deported as a result.
Police claimed that these immigrants had frequently been accused of using nominees to hold shares in a business with a covert purpose in order to grant work permits to other foreign nationals.
