Power off plea for Earth Hour

City government urges Earth Hour membership

Along with 7, 000 other settlements taking part in” Earth Hour 2024,” Bangkok government Chadchart Sittipunt is asking Bangkokians to stop using light for an hour this Saturday to lessen global warming.

Mr. Chadchart emphasized the need to increase awareness of global warming, arguing that the issue has a direct impact on people’s lives. He attributed the majority of global warming to greenhouse gas emissions, which are caused by vehicle emissions and energy usage.

Earth Hour 2024 will take place in 7, 000 key places in 190 countries global, including Bangkok, on March 23 between 8.30pm and 9.30pm local time in each area, he said.

Bangkok’s involvement in next week’s Earth Hour resulted in a 36- watt reduction in energy usage and a 5.2- tonne reduction in carbon dioxide.
