Two New Zealand men were detained on Saturday night after attempting to smuggle a neighborhood customers policeman’s pistol and injuring him, according to police.
At 3.50pm on Saturday, Pol Sen Sgt Maj Somsak Noo- iad, a traffic officer from Chalong stop, ordered a halt on Hamish Day, 36, and Oscar Day, 38, on Chaofa ( East ) Road in tambon Chalong of Muang area as they were riding motorcycles quickly in a society area and failed to stay in the left street.
The customers did not stop. but rather ped up to escape. Next followed by Pol Sen. Maj. Somsak.
The foreigners suddenly yelled and stopped their riders. The officer recorded their responses on his cell phone.
The officer was then attacked by the two gentlemen, forcing him to the floor and attempting to steal his pistol. The revolver went away once during the fight, but nobody was hit by the bullet.
Both New Zealanders were immediately taken into custody by various Chalong place police officers who were present. They were eventually charged with robbery, barrier of police duty, real assault against a officer, driving without a licence and corruption.
Both New Zealanders were detained at the place and would be brought to the Phuket Provincial Court on Sunday, according to Pol Col Ekarat Plaiduang, the captain of Chalong place, where a request for an extension of their confinement may be made.
The train manager claimed that both men offered bribes after being detained, but Pol Sen Sgt Maj Somsak declined.
The traffic police officer suffered hand and arm injuries, but he was treated and released from a doctor. For his efforts, he did receive both honor and reward. According to Pol Col Ekarat, this was the first instance of customers kicking at Chalong Station.
