Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, oversaw air warfare exercises on Friday ( Mar 15 ), and urged “realistic” combat preparation, state media KCNA reported on Saturday. Joint annual drills involving South Korea and the United States ended earlier this week.
According to KCNA, “only practical training directly related to war can make soldiers as true fight fighters,” Kim said.
Kim said he was satisfied with North Korean army eagerness, and ordered training to cope with all kinds of terrain, conditions, period and the most significant conditions, KCNA reported.
Following combined annual training involving South Korea and the US were conducted, North Korea’s training took place.
The first joint training between South Korea and the US came after Pyongyang ended a Korean military alliance that was meant to end conflicts in November.
An unprecedented number of member state from the US-led United Nations Command, which has been in place as part of the ceasefire that came at the end of the 1950- 1953 Korean War, participated in the 10-day Freedom Shield activities that ended up on Thursday.
