The Star and various media have highlighted that commuters, including pregnant women, have been calling for the path to become reopened, following its closing during the Covid- 19 crisis.
They are officially required to circumnavigate the BSI CIQ by 1.5 kilometers.
“( The Cabinet committee ) gave the green light to carry out a dry run for about two months. We’ll get going with this and see if there are any issues.
Mr. Fazli was quoted by The Star as saying,” If everything is fine, we will bring the matter up again to the Cabinet to get approval for the way to be gazetted as standard access to the BSI.
If Johor Chief Minister Onn Hafiz Ghazi gives the third pedestrian way the green light, he added, and that the dried run for the route is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. He provided no further information.
” We may have about two to three weeks to get everything ready before the dry work begins,” said Mr. Fazli.
If the access route get gazetted, the condition executive councillor stated that the walkway may serve as the first official route for pedestrians to travel to the checkpoint building.
There are no clear pathways to the BSI at the moment. People can access the CIQ through JB Sentral by the two entrances along Jalan Jim Quee and Jalan Tun ( Abdul ) Razak.
According to The Star, Mr. Fazli claimed that if this path were to be gazetted, folks would then have direct access to the CIQ without having to travel through JB Sentral.
Local media had previously reported that the Home Ministry of Malaysia had been considering reopening the staircase to Johor’s roadblocks to make it easier for people to get their passports through Singapore.
