MFA issues Haiti travel warning

The Foreign Affairs Ministry has urged Thai citizens living in Haiti to be cautious and stay away from high-risk areas in the violence-stricken Caribbean region.

Haiti, in tumult from gang violence in recent days, has shown signs of spiralling into more chaos, said the government.

It claimed in a statement released on Wednesday that it had received emails from the Thai Embassy in Mexico City, the country’s second-to-be-by political mission to Haiti.

The official claimed to be aware of no Thais who had taken up long-term house or worked in Haiti. But, there may be Thai visitors in the country, especially in the funds Port- au- Prince. They were advised to use caution, stay away from opposition sites and other high-risk locations, and also check their journey patterns before leaving.
