According to Russian advertising reports, a North Korean man has been detained in Russia and charged with spying.

The foreign ministry of South Korea has likewise confirmed the imprisonment, claiming they were attempting to provide consular assistance.

According to state news agency Tass, Baek Won was quickly detained in Vladivostok, in the far-eastern town, and is currently imprisoned in Moscow.

He is regarded as the first North Korean national to be detained in Russia in recent years.

The North Korean government’s foreign ministry claimed” the information” were being looked into and “it is hard to comment” about his situation, but little is known about it.

However, an unknown official was quoted by Russian state media Tass in their statement, claiming that Mr. Baek is alleged to have allegedly passed on data to” constituting state secrets to foreign brains service.”

Seoul was merely formally informed of the arrest’s alleged month-long delay by Russian authorities, according to South Korean media.

According to Yonhap, a North Korean shop, Mr. Baek was detained by Russia’s Federal Security Service in January after arriving in Vladivostok from China.

According to the outlet, he claimed to be a spiritual employee and that his family, who was also detained but later released, was with him. According to the report, she is reportedly again in South Korea.

The detention of Mr. Baek is the most recent of the many immigrants detained by Russian government since the start of the Ukrainian conflict two years ago. Moscow has been accused of detaining citizens of other nations to use as a social negotiations device and for slave markets.

One of the cases is British journalist Alsu Kurmsasheva, who was accused of disseminating “false information” about the Russian army, and Wall Street Journal columnist Evan Gershkovich, who was detained in March last year on spy costs.

According to Tass, Mr. Baek is being held in the Lefortovo Prison, which is where Mr. Gershkovich is currently imprisoned. According to the Russian news agency, a court on Monday ordered his confinement to become extended until June.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been condemned by South Korea and its European allies, and it has signed a restrictions government against Moscow. Russia and North Korea have also developed closer relations, with Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un gathering in high-profile visits next year, which experts believe led to agreements in defense systems.

Last year, Russian and North Vietnamese officials held a number of sessions in Vladivostok.
