India’s first successful test-fired ballistic missile capable of carrying multiple nuclear weapons was a result of a domestically developed missile, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday ( Mar 11 ).
In comments on the social media platform X, Modi claimed to be “proud” that the launch of” the first flight test of indigenously developed Agni- 5 missile with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle ( MIRV ) technology had been conducted.
The Agni- 5 is have some nuclear warheads at again thanks to MIRV technology, allowing them to split off and strike various targets.
Modi did no provide further information about the launch, but India has previously tested-fired several Agni- 5 missiles that were created by India’s Defence Research and Development Organization.
On X, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh claimed that India had” joined the limited group of nations” worthy of the weapon systems.
Agni, which means “fire” in Sanskrit, is the name given to a number of missiles that India developed as part of a job for the development of guided missiles that was launched in 1983.
Analysts claim that eventually Agni-I and II designs with a longer range reflect the change in India’s concentrate toward China, while the shorter-range Agni-I and II were primarily developed with conventional rival Pakistan in thoughts.
