South Korea to start legal action against doctors over walkout: Health minister

There has n’t been much of either side backing down so far. The Korean Medical Association ( KMA ), which represents private practitioners, organized a mass rally of thousands of South Korean doctors on Sunday that defied official requests for the trainee doctors to return to work.

The Korean government’s steps, according to the World Medical Association,” strongly condemns the behavior of the Korean government in attempting to suppress the voices of elected officials within the Korean Medical Association,” added it affirms doctors ‘ rights to collective action, including attacks.

The government may initially address pay and working conditions before attempting to increase the number of physicians, according to the younger specialists who are protesting.

In a rapidly aging world with one of the lowest doctor-to-patient numbers in created markets, 2.6 physicians per 1,000 people, the government says the program to increase the number of students admitted to health schools by 2,000 starting in the 2025 academic time is needed.

According to a recent Gallup Korea poll, about 76 % of respondents are in favor of the plan to increase medical school admissions, regardless of political affiliation.

However, some critics accuse Yoon Suk Yeol’s state of not conducting adequate research and choosing to litigate the matter ahead of April’s parliamentary elections.
