Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has not shown any purpose to provide as a state director since his launch on probation, according to Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin.

Mr Srettha on Sunday said he met the former prime minister last week at his house in Bangkok.

“]Thaksin ] left Thailand for 17–18 years”, Mr Srettha said.

” I think he might want to spend time with his family and restore his health”, he added.

According to the Probation Department, Thaksin is not prohibited from becoming a committee member or political director of an entity.

This coincides with the district’s scheme to encourage previous individuals to reintegrate into society.

Last month, Mr Srettha hinted during his trip to New York that Thaksin may be assigned an expert position when he completed his prison term according to his knowledge of the economy.

Moreover, responding to a question about the development of the government’s electric pocket handout plan, Mr Srettha, who doubles as Finance Minister, said he is waiting for more information and a commission has been formed to look into the matter.

More information on the budget plan will remain disclosed by Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat, Mr Srettha added.

However, Mr Srettha said he is happy that Pheu Thai Party chief Paetongtarn Shinawatra responded to an offer by past Thai prime minister Hun Sen to visit the country to develop relationships.

Hun Sen is then president of the ruling- Thai Women’s Party and chairman of the Supreme Privy Council.
