Person missing after boat collision off Pulau Hantu

SINGAPORE: A search is ongoing for a person who fell overboard after a collision between two pleasure craft off Pulau Hantu, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said on Saturday (Mar 2).

The collision occurred at about 1.30pm on Saturday, MPA said in a statement.

“Five passengers had fallen overboard. Four passengers have been recovered safely and one remains missing,” the authority said.

“MPA has deployed patrol craft to the area and is coordinating search efforts with assets from the Police Coast Guard and the Singapore Civil Defence Force.”

MPA is also issuing navigational broadcasts to vessels in the vicinity asking them to keep a lookout for any person in the water.

Pulau Hantu is located to the south of Singapore’s mainland, near Pulau Bukom.

According to MPA, a pleasure craft is a craft that is intended for use within Singapore’s port waters exclusively for sport or pleasure purposes.
