Singapore reports 11th case of monkeypox infection

Monkeypox is a virus-like disease that is typically self-limiting, with patients recovering within 14 to 21 days.

Those who are contaminated usually experience temperature, headache, muscle symptoms, backache, swollen lymph nodes, chills, lethargy and rash.

Of the 11 monkeypox cases announced within Singapore since 06, five are brought in and six are usually local. None of the cases so far are linked.

Upon Monday, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said that MOH does not recommend the bulk vaccination of Singapore’s population against monkeypox, reiterating the ministry’s stance on the viral disease.

The entire world Health Organization (WHO) on Saturday declared the monkeypox outbreak a global health crisis .
