COE premiums up across the board; Cat B sees sharpest rise of S,000

SINGAPORE: Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums rebounded across the board on Wednesday (Jan 17) in the second bidding exercise of the year.

For Category A cars, or those 1,600cc and below with horsepower not exceeding 130bhp, premiums closed at S$81,589 (US$60,690), up 22.6 per cent from S$65,010 in the last exercise

Premiums for larger and more powerful cars in Category B rose to S$112,000, a 27.4 per cent increase from S$85,010 previously.

COEs for commercial vehicles, which include goods vehicles and buses, rose to S$68,001 from S$67,599 in the previous bidding exercise.

Motorcycle premiums closed at S$9,309, up from S$9,114 in the last exercise.

Open category COEs, which can be used for any vehicle type but end up being used mainly for large cars, rose to S$109,004 from S$106,388.

A total of 4,464 bids were received, with a quota of 2,431 COEs available. 

The COE quota for the November 2023 to January 2024 quarter was increased from the previous quarter, bringing the total supply of COEs to 14,388.
