No action taken by police against Protect Singapore Townhall: MHA

The closed-door, ticketed event was organised by Dads for Life and the Yellow Ribbon Task founder Jason Wong and SuChi Success Initiatives chief executive officer Mohamed Khair.

According to TODAY, Mister Wong said that the meeting was to raise awareness of the “impact of LGBTQ+ activism” and not to distribute hate.

The session, which Mr Wong described as oversubscribed on his Facebook page, was a closed-door, ticketed event held beneath the Chatham House rules.

MHA mentioned: “The event organiser for the Protect Singapore Townhall had requested a police allow, and informed the police that the event has been by-invite only, concerning only members associated with her organisation plus invited guests.

“Police acquired assessed that a permit under the Public Order Act was not required as this was a personal event. ”

Under the Open public Order Act, the permit from the police is required for a community assembly/procession if the reason for the event is to demonstrate support for or even opposition to the views or actions of any persons, number of persons or any federal government, publicise a cause or campaign or indicate or commemorate any event, the ministry added.
