In comparison to the past year, fewer accidents, injuries, and mortality occurred on Thai roads during the so-called seven dangerous days this month.
The Interior Ministry’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported 288 highway accidents, 284 mortality, and 2, 307 injury between December 29 and January 4.
There were 2, 440 traffic fatalities, 317 mortality, and 2,437 injuries during the same time last year.
According to Chotenarin Kerdsom, assistant permanent director for Interior, Kanchanaburi had the highest number of injuries at 89 and the most highway fatalities at age 82.
According to reports, Bangkok has the highest death toll, with 19 casualties.
No highway fatalities have been reported in 11 counties so far, including Krabi, Kalasin, Chai Nat, Tak, Nakhon Nayok, Pattani, Phichit, Mae Hong Son, Satun, Samut Songkhram, and Amnat Charoen.
The final day of the seven harmful time, Thursday, saw 17 fatalities and 205 injuries in 200 traffic accidents.
48.5 % of cases involved speeding, 22 % involved overtaking, and 14 % involved poor vision. Motorcycles were involved in about 88.72 % of all accidents, while 85 % of crashes happened on straight roads, 42.5 % on highways, and 30 % on roads in villages.
