According to a survey done in October, the National Statistical Office ( NSO ) expressed concern on Wednesday over the high rate of unemployment among recent graduates, who now make up the majority of the country’s jobless population.
According to NSO deputy director Suwannee Wangkarn, the organization often surveys Thais ‘ work on a monthly basis. The most recent study, conducted in October, revealed that about 150,000 recent graduates were unemployed.
According to her, the group made up the majority of the poor, which was 341 000 as of October’s review, or 0.8 %.
Also, there were 212, 000 unemployed people without any prior work experience.
The study revealed that there were 40.37 million Thais who were prepared to work.
39.95 million of these people had managed to find work of some kind, 341 000 were unemployed, and an additional 80, 000 fell under the category of seasonal staff.
The majority of the 18.64 million persons who were unemployed were women, students, and elderly or sick people.
The number of unemployed people in October decreased significantly from September’s 342, 000.
The main and northern regions had seen a decline in the number of unemployed people, while the northern and southern regions saw an increase.
Bangkok’s unemployment rate remained intact.
People and young people between the ages of 15 and 24 had been most severely affected by gender and age.
The general situation did get better in October, but it’s concerning how many recent graduates are homeless, she said.
