Rahul Gandhi: India Congress leader detained amid protests

Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi was jailed by police on Tuesday while participating in protests with people of his celebration, the Congress.

They were protesting within capital Delhi while party president Sonia Gandhi was being wondered by a government company that investigates monetary crimes.

She plus Rahul Gandhi are actually accused of misusing party funds to acquire valuable real estate through a convoluted financial offer.

The Gandhis deny the allegations.

They have accused the regulating Bharatiya Janata Celebration (BJP) of using federal law enforcement companies for political vendetta.

This was the second period Mrs Gandhi was questioned in connection with the situation.

Before he was detained, Mister Gandhi and other party members sat on the road in Delhi, surrounded by a large number of police men, protesting against issues ranging from inflation to the claimed targeting of opposition leaders.

In June, Rahul Gandhi was wondered for around 50 hours over five times by the ED in the same case. Mrs Gandhi was initially required questioning at the same time, but her summons had to be deferred after the lady tested positive meant for Covid-19.

But the Congress celebration continued to play an enormous role in shaping the newspaper’s ideology. Some of India’s best-known journalists have worked on the daily, which continued to be funded by the Congress party.

The newspapers ceased operations within 2008 for financial reasons. In 2016, it was relaunched being a digital publication and is now widely seen as a Congress mouthpiece.

Mr Swamy has supposed that the Gandhis utilized Congress party funds and took over AJL to try to acquire real estate assets in several towns, including Delhi and Mumbai, which are worth more than 20bn rupees ($250 million; £208 million).

The party has denied this particular, describing it since “a strange situation of alleged cash laundering without any money”.
