Chaiyamphawan: Haven’t offer an apology

Following his refusal to apologize to the alleged victims, the main opposition Move Forward Party ( MFP) unanimously voted yesterday to expel MP Chaiyamphawan Manpianjit over sexual harassment allegations.

According to party president Chaithawat Tulathon, the celebration decided to remove the Bangkok MP at a joint meeting of professionals and MPs held yesterday. There were 128 people in attendance.

Mr. Chaithawat claimed that on November 3, the group sent a letter to Chayamphawan requesting that he officially declare to the alleged sexual misconduct and apologize to society by the following day.

The group also demanded that he pay the alleged victims and halt any connection that would harm their reputations, both directly and indirectly, as part of the order.

Additionally, Mr. Chaiyamphawan was advised not to engage in any additional acts of physical abuse while still serving as a group member and MP. The joint meeting discovered, however, that Mr. Chaiyamphawan had from presented more damning information against the victims in an effort to clear his name, despite claiming to accept the party’s resolution adopted on November 1.

According to Mr. Chaithawat, the details revealed the victims’ identities.

At one stage during a weekend press conference, Mr. Chaiyamphawan asserted that the parents of one of the women he reportedly persecuted had given him gifts, including clothing and ties. According to Mr. Chaithawat, the claim was made to imply that he and the person maintained close ties and that their interactions were mutually beneficial.

The group found evidence to support the accusations made against Mr. Chaiyamphawan and Wuttiphong Thonglour, a colleague MP for Prachin Buri, at their mutual meeting on November 1. Mr. Chaiyamphawan was spared instant dismissal because the ballot to expel him fell short of the requirement for exclusion, while Mrs. Wittiphong was expelled. But the edict was given to him.
