NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: A chase has been launched to apprehend a prison inmate who escaped from the hospital where he was admitted for medical attention early on Sunday night.
After receiving a more than 20-year prison term for attempted murders in connection with an armed assault on police on September 2, 2019, in Phatthalung, the prisoner, Chaowalit Thongduang, 37, also known as” Sia Paeng Na Nod,” was currently serving time.
In January 2022, Chaowalit started working at Phatthalung Prison before being transferred on August 7 to Nakhon Si Thammarat Prison.
Chaowalit: Was tethered to a base.
Prison guards transported him to Maharat Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital on Friday, October 20, for medical care.
The physician in charge of his care at the hospital postponed the appointment. Chaowalit immediately fell incapacitated as he was about to be taken back to the prison. His arms were shackled, and he was then put in a place with chains around his sleep.
He was to be closely watched over by two warriors. On Sunday at 8.30 a.m., he was immediately scheduled to be released from the doctor. But at 1am on Sunday, he vanished. Three hours later, the warriors reported his departure to the Muang police station.
Director-general of the Department of Corrections Sahakarn Phetnarin gave the Nakhon Si Thammarat jail commander the order to start a hunt with the aid of soldiers and police to reclaim Chaowalit.
