SINGAPORE: On Monday, October 23, the Public Service Division ( PSD ) announced a number of permanent secretary appointments that would begin on January 1, 2024.
Mr. Jeffrey Siow Chen Siang, who has been managing chairman and chief operating officer at Enterprise Singapore since September 2021, is new to the position of continuous minister.
Mr. Siow, 45, will serve as the Ministry of Manpower’s ( MOM ) second permanent secretary.
From 2017 to 2021, he served as Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s Principal Private Secretary. He had recently held a number of positions at nbsp, including MOM, PSD, the Civil Service College, and the Ministry of Education and Transport.
Three continuous secretaries’ portfolios may undergo changes.
In addition to serving as PSD’s Permanent Secretary( Development ), Ms. Teoh Zsin Woon will also serve as the Ministry of Culture, Community, and Youth( MCCY ) permanent secretary. The 49-year-old will resign from her position as the Ministry of National Development’s( MND ) Permanent Secretary( Development ). & nbsp,
Prior to that, Ms. Teoh held a number of positions in the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministries of Defence, Manpower, Workforce Development Agency, and National Development.
Ms. Tan Gee Keow did resign from her position as Permanent Secretary of MCCY in the interim. She will continue to be PSD’s Permanent Secretary. & nbsp,
The 48-year-old has held a number of positions in the Ministries of Finance, Public Service Division, Ministry of Defense, and Education. & nbsp,
Melvyn Ong Su Kiat, a former commander of the Singapore Armed Forces ( SAF ), will serve as MND’s Permanent Secretary( Development ). He will hold the position of Permanent Secretary( Defence Development ) at the Ministry of Defence concurrently with & nbsp, which he was given earlier this year after retiring from the SAF.
The 48-year-old joined the Singapore Armed Forces in 1994 and held a number of important positions before taking over as the force’s commander in March 2018. & nbsp,
REDESIGNATION
Mr. Chng Kai Fong will be renamed as Permanent Secretary( Information and Development ) at the Ministry of Communications and Information( MCI ), replacing him as such.
The 44-year-old will continue to work at the Prime Minister’s Office( PMO ) as Permanent Secretary( Development )( Cybersecurity ).
Mr. Chng has held a number of positions in the then-Minister of Information, Communications and the Arts, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Civil Service College.
