A man suspected of running a fake modeling agency that caused damages totaling about 10 million baht has been detained by officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s( MPB ) online patrol unit.
The suspect was only identified as Jarungsak, 51, by Pol Col Wichit Thirakhajornwong, supervisor of the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s 1 Investigation Division. On October 1, he was taken into custody at a residence in the Bang Phli neighborhood of Samut Prakan.
Jarungsak is charged with participating in scams and infusing a computer system with fake information.
Mr. Jarungsak, also known as” Ajarn ] Teacher ] Toey ,” was a well-known talent scout who rose to fame in 2019, according to police. According to police, he ran the Facebook site” Top Model 2022″ and made a commitment to assist younger individuals who want to become models.
According to the officers, the suspect had approach families and request a fee payment of 1,000 Baht for modeling classes at section stores in the Rama IX and RCA regions.
Later, he may request additional funding from parents in order to send their kids to Pattaya, Hong Kong, and Singapore modeling competitions. They had to pay between 40 000 and 50 000 ringgit in addition to the admission fee of 5, 000 Baht.
The suspect allegedly assured the kids that after each incident, they may get a commission. But after receiving the parents’ wealth, he had vanish.
He denied the charge, claiming that his modeling business had been shut down last year as a result of loss brought on by the Covid-19 crisis. According to Pol Col Wichit, a group of kids had complained about Mr. Jarungsak, and the estimated amount of damage was 10 million baht.
