Xi says China to work with Egypt to help stabilise Middle East

BEIJING: The Israel-Has conflict has cast a shadow over the Middle East, and Chinese President Xi Jinping told Egypt’s prime minister on Thursday( Oct 19) that their nations should cooperate to take” more balance” to the area.

Since Palestinian violent party Hamas launched surprise attacks into Israel on October 7, killing 1, 400 people, the majority of whom were citizens, and kidnapping about 200 victims, hostilities have erupted.

Israel has surrounded Gaza in retaliation, conducting airstrikes in the Israeli refuge, enforcing a siege, and massing troops along its border in preparation for an impending ground assault.

Martin Griffiths, a senior UN humanitarian official, stated on Wednesday that the scenario in Gaza was grave, with hospitals overcrowded, more than 3, 000 Gazans dead, and 12, 500 injured.

China has consistently supported a nebulous two-state proposal on the decades-long impasse that preceded the battle, but it has historically supported the Arab cause, albeit in favor of the republican Palestine Liberation Organization rather than the Islamic Hamas.

Xi met with Mostafa Madbouli of Egypt on Thursday in Beijing, reiterating China’s support for a” two-state solution… to realize the peaceful coexistence of Palestine and Israel ,” according to various state media outlets.

According to state broadcaster CCTV, Xi told Mostafa Madbouli at a conference in Beijing that” China is willing to improve participation with Egypt … and add more clarity and balance into the area and the planet.”

According to CCTV,” China and Egypt are great friends who share the same goals and trust each other, and great partners who work hand in hand for growth and popular success.”

The world is currently going through profound and complex shifts that haven’t been seen in a decade, according to Xi.

To” jointly secure global fairness and justice as well as the common interests of developing countries ,” he added, Beijing was even willing to collaborate with Cairo.
