Chadchart ‘not opposed’ to 4am closing time

As long as all parties involved are prepared to enforce the law to minimize any negative effects on society, Bangkok government Chadchart Sittipunt said he isn’t opposed to the program to expand the night working hours of entertainment venues.

In an effort to boost the hospitality industry, Mr. Chadchart stated that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration ( BMA) is looking for a suitable place to test out the longer running time. The Interior Ministry appears poised to support the initiative to let restaurants and casinos to open until 4am.

Such facilities are currently required by law to near at 2am. The case also needs to approve the proposal.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin led the effort to allow restaurants and bars to start until 4am, declaring earlier this month that it would boost the economy.

The longer hours will benefit industry business owners, according to Mr. Chadchart, as long as sufficient measures are in place to address problems like noise pollution, drug usage, and underage drinking.

The governor noted that the city has changed and that areas that were once considered the hub of night entertainment venues, such as Royal City Avenue( RCA ), are no longer as popular as they once were. Together with the police, the BMA will determine the areas where the new policy can be implemented.

Anutin Charnvirakul, the deputy prime minister and internal minister, stated yesterday that the government is still researching the suggested modification.

He stated that the plan is being investigated by local administrative offices across the nation, and they will present their findings to the prime minister for approval.

The time may be extended, but we don’t know how long. In order to prevent it from having an impact on local residents’ lives while promoting regional financial activities as planned, we will need to take it into account case by case, he said.
