China prepares for Belt and Road summit under shadow of Israel-Gaza war

BEIJING: As an increasingly assertive Beijing is asked to help de-escalate the assault, China prepared on Monday( Oct 16) to network members of 130 places for a website that will be overshadowed by the Israel-Gaza war.

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, is at the top of the list of attendees for China’s Belt and Road Initiative ( BRI ) forum. Putin is visiting a major world power for the first time since the Ukraine invasion, which has isolated his government internationally.

Officials have started to show up in the Chinese funds for a dinner event commemorating the BRI’s tenth anniversary, which is an important initiative of President Xi Jinping to broaden the reach of China internationally.

China hopes that the website will strengthen its position as a major international strength, but Israel’s conflict with the Palestinian militant group Hamas will continue to take center stage.

After tides of its fighters breached the heavily fortified borders on October 7, killing more than 1, 400 people, the majority of whom were citizens, Israel declared war on the Islamic party.

More than a million people have fled their homes into the chaotic and hopeless Gaza Strip, which is under weighty Israeli assault.

At least 2, 670 people have died in Gaza as a result of Israeli attack, mostly civilians, and whole neighborhoods have been destroyed.

Wang Yi, the unusual minister of China, has criticized Israel’s activities for going” beyond the scope of self-defense” and urged it to” continue its social punishment of the people of Gaza.”

The strongest position China has taken on the fight is that” Israel” should heed the names of the global community and the UN secretary general and stop collectively punishing the citizens of Gaza. Wang said this on Sunday.

Western officials have criticized Beijing for never particularly mentioning Hamas in its statements regarding the Israel-Ghast conflict.

Wang and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a conversation on Sunday during which Wang urged China to use its” effect” in the Middle East to promote peace.

Iran and China have a cordial relationship because the latter’s administrative management backs both Hamas and Hezbollah, the radical organization in Lebanese that has the potential to launch an additional front against Israel.

China brokered an agreement earlier this year between original local adversaries Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Zhai Jun, Beijing’s specific envoy, will travel to the Middle East this week to advocate for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas conflict and to advance peace negotiations, according to CCTV, the state broadcaster of China, which did not specify which nations he would visit.

According to Niva Yau, a non-resident brother with the Global China Hub of the Atlantic Council, Beijing will be able to shape attendance at the BRI height as support for its location.

Any head of state who attends the mountain, according to her,” almost seems to concur with Beijing’s stances on these world issues.”
