SEOUL: According to Pyongyang’s condition media KCNA, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un wrote to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, October 12, pledging to strengthen their relationships and wishing him victory over what he called imperialist force.
The letters, which commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, were sent one month after Kim and Putin’s rare visit to Russia, where they talked about military assistance, the North Korean satellite program, and the Ukrainian conflict.
Kim expressed his extreme satisfaction with their” candid, comprehensive” discussions during the visit in his letter. He vowed to further improve ties to a” new level” and wished Putin success in fending off Western pressure on Ukraine.
By thwarting the imperialists’ persistent dominant plan and anti-Russian scheme to remove and suppress it, Kim said,” I hope that the Russian people, who have set out to build a powerful nation, will always attain victory and glory in their struggle to defend the country’s sovereignty, dignity, security, and peace.”
Putin claimed in his message to Kim that their new meeting was more proof of their growing friendship.
” I am convinced that putting the agreements into action will help to further strengthen the constructive bilateral cooperation for enhancing the well-being of the two peoples and ensuring security and stability in the Korean peninsula and Northeast Asia as a whole ,” he declared.
The visit of Kim has raised US worries that a resurrected Moscow-Pyongyang bloc could strengthen Russia’s war in Ukraine and give Kim access to missile technology that is prohibited by UN resolutions.
Washington has charged North Korea with supplying Russia with weapons for its conflict in Ukraine, including artillery shells, shoulder-fired missiles and weapons.
Despite their denials of any hands deals, Pyongyang and Moscow have pledged to strengthen their defense ties.
